ScAN early career travel grant application – closing date 3 August 2023

Scottish Arctic Networks Early Career Travel Grants

This year, we aim to support early career researchers based in Scotland with travel grants to participate in Arctic-focused academic events. We invite PhD students and early career academics (7 years post-PhD award) to apply for awards. Researchers who received their PhD over 7 years ago can still apply with a note on special circumstances (eg career breaks or parental leave). Two types of awards are available at this time:

  • between £300 and £1200 for Arctic Circle Assembly October 2023
  • between £250 and £750 for other events including (but not limited to) Polar Law Symposium, UK Arctic Science Conference, Arctic Spirit, Arctic Frontiers.

To apply, please send a filled in application form (see below) with ‘SCAN Travel Grant’ in title to dshapovalova@abdn.ac.uk before 3 August 2023.

Applications will be considered based on academic merits, equality & diversity, and past engagement with ScAN. Grants can be spent on travel, accommodation, or conference fees. Successful applicants will be expected to help promote ScAN at their respective events and write a blog entry for the ScAN website.
