ScAN early career travel grant application – closing date 16 August 2024

Scottish Arctic Networks Early Career Travel Grants

We are very pleased to be able to support early career researchers again this year. This year’s awards are intended to support early career researchers based in Scotland with travel grants to participate in Arctic-focused academic events. We invite PhD students and early career academics (7 years post-PhD award) to apply for awards. Researchers who received their PhD over 7 years ago can still apply with a note on special circumstances (eg career breaks or parental leave). Two types of awards are available at this time:

  • between £300 and £1200 for Arctic Circle Assembly October 2024
  • between £250 and £750 for other events including (but not limited to) Polar Law Symposium, UK Arctic Science Conference,  Arctic Frontiers.

To apply, please send a filled in application form (see below) with ‘SCAN Travel Grant’ in title to dshapovalova@abdn.ac.uk before 16 August 2024.

Applications will be considered based on academic merits, equality & diversity, and past engagement with ScAN. Priority will be given to applicants who are presenting their research at the respective conferences. Grants can be spent on travel, accommodation, or conference fees. Successful applicants will be expected to help promote ScAN at their respective events and write a blog entry for the ScAN website.
