You are invited – Annual Meeting of ScAN (22 March) and ASSW activities

ScAN Annual Meeting

Our annual meeting is taking place during the ASSW – although you can join it even if you are not participating in the conference as it is open to all ScAN members. Please join us on 22nd March at the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute or online at 1.30-4pm. Formal agenda to follow.

At the meeting we will review the progress we made this year with the annual report and discussion, we will also vote on the organising committee for the next year, and agree on our main priorities and action points.  If you would like to be part of the Organising Committee next year – please send a 1-pager with a short bio and a personal statement to thenorth@abdn.ac.uk by 16 March 2024.

Register for the meeting (in-person or online) here.

ScAN activities at ASSW

We hope many members of ScAN are registered to attend ASSW. If you are coming to the conference, we would like to invite you to participate in our activities on 21 and 26 March.

In particular, we are looking for ScAN members to present their research at the ScAN research spotlight session on 21 March 10:30-12:30. In this session we will share the research on the Arctic across all disciplines. Interdisciplinary projects/papers are particularly welcome. Please send your title and abstracts to dshapovalova@abdn.ac.uk with “ScAN research spotlight” in the title by 6 March 2024.

There will be a UArctic/SCAN visit to the University of Edinburgh Special Collections on 21st March 4-6pm including a short talk about the collection. Spaces are limited so please email dshapovalova@abdn.ac.uk with “Special Collections visit” by 15 March 2024.

We will also have a stand for the Science Day on 26th March and are looking for volunteers to run the stall – all materials will be provided to you. Please use this link to choose your 90-minute slot. We hope you can help us spread the word about ScAN and get some networking done at the same time.
